CAMPAIGN RESULTS This is a report of our 2006 campaign whch was successful beyond all our expectations. Since its founding, UUJEC has sought to engage, educate and activate UUs to work for economic justice as foundational to creating a more just, peaceful, democratic, and sustainable world. UUJEC's Big Box Retailing Campaign - Unmasking Wal-Mart and Other Big Box Retailers - continued this legacy. Our goal was to engage UUs and UU congregations from across the country in learning about and acting to hold big box retailers accountable for unjust practices that impoverish workers and threaten communities. Our goal was to engage 100 UU CONGREGATIONS in holding Wal-Mart and other big box retailers (BBRers) accountable for unjust practices was exceeded! At least 150 UU congregations took a first step by hosting a showing of Robert Greenwald's documentary: "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price." See UU World Online for a description of the November '05 movie launch. We believe that at least 1000 UUs from these and other UU congregations took follow up action to hold BBRers accountable. Here are some WAYS that UUJEC achieved this goal: 1 We kept you updated through UUJEC's online Campaign Headquarters and newsletters. 2 We made available our new Big Box Retailing Campaign Tool Box with a UU commentary, facts, resources, actions, a pledge, and much more. 3 We supported your involvement in the Campaign with suggested actions[LINK to ACTION list], tips, helpful articles, and links to other UU communities [LINK under construction]. 4 We encouraged UU ministers to deliver sermons on big box retailing. We also spread the word and celebrated what you and other UUs did to fight big box retailers! All our goals were surpassed! Thanks for the good work!
